The School of Electronics and Communication Engineering was established in May 2011, formerly known as Electronic and Information Engineering. Currently it has 7 specialties, which are Electronic Information Engineering, Medical Treatment Electronic Engineering, Microelectronic Technique, Electronics Techniques and Management, Communication Technology, Mobile Communication Engineering, and Computer Network Technology. In 2007, by the Ministry of Personnel and the Ministry of Education, school was appraised as the excellent group of the national education system.
The teachers in the school are professional in their respective field. We have highly competitive faculty of 78 teachers; 7 professors, 47 associate professors and senior engineers. 9 of them have doctoral degrees, 90% of all the lecturers have master’s degrees. Three teachers have obtained the network's top (CCIE) certification. Electronic information engineering technology was awarded the title of national teaching team in 2007.
We also made prominent achievements in academic and scientific research. 75 national, provincial level of scientific and technological projects and the Municipal level projects undertaken in the "Eleventh Five-Year" period, obtained a funding of 17 million RMB yuan.
The school is in close cooperation with a number of well-known enterprises (Cisco, Huawei, China Unicom, Philips, H3C, race STMicroelectronics, Skyworth). Cooperation projects: Cisco Networking Academy (Continuously named National Outstanding Network Academy), Huawei Networking Academy, Huawei Certified Partner Authorized Training Center, H3C Networking Academy, SMT Engineering Center, etc. Cooperation with China Unicom, establishment of China Unicom classes and China Unicom scholarships, training applied talents together.
The School has 29 specialized laboratories of electronic and communication network (with 219 training bases outside campus), to provide students with excellent practicing and training environment.
Since 2012,the school recruits four-year undergraduates of majoring in electronic and information engineering. At present, the school has 97 undergraduates in 3 classes and 2,301 higher vocational students in 63 classes. The school attaches great importance in cultivating students’ creativity and innovative spirits. As a result, students have won various prizes in National “Challenge Cup” Contests for College Students, National Electronics contests, “Invention Cup” Creativity Contests for Higher Vocational College Students, China Undergraduate Mathematical Contest in Modeling, Computer Software Contests, etc. More than 165 students have obtained world-class certificates (CCIE) in networking. The employment rate has always been above 95% in the past years. According to the third party MyCOS investigation report statistics: employability and competitiveness of school and the average income in the year after graduation are ranked Shenzhen Polytechnic first.
